Joint Inflammation

Novilla strives to deliver effective pain therapeutics locally to avoid systemic side effects

Joint inflammation is a condition where the immune system or damaged tissue releases chemicals that cause swelling and other symptoms in a joint. The most common treatments include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or steroids to reduce inflammation, along with physical therapy to improve joint strength and range of motion. As of 2021, an estimated 53.2 million US adults had been diagnosed with some form of arthritis. Chronic inflammation in the joints can lead to damage to cartilage, bones, tendons, or ligaments, irritate nerves, and produce symptoms including pain, swelling, and stiffness. The joint damage may be progressive and irreversible.
